We at the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea would describe our approach as forward thinking in caring for children with disabilities. We are setting up and creating an exciting brand new service and we are looking for sessional workers to support children who have multiple disabilities and complex health needs.

Reporting into the Centre Manager, you will contribute to the evolution of the new St Quintins Children’s Centre for Disabled Children. Calling on your understanding of the needs of children of different disabilities, cultures and religious backgrounds, you will deliver effective day and after school care, Saturday and school holiday support. We are aiming to provide exciting play and leisure opportunities. It’s your chance to take your place at the heart of something life-changing in an excellent Council in a diverse and dynamic borough.

Qualification as a Play Worker to NVQ Level 3 would be advantageous, but is by no means essential. What matters more is your ability to relate to young people with learning, sensory and physical disabilities – and your ability to work with everybody from parents and carers to outside agencies to meet their needs. Add to that an aptitude for organisation and we would like to hear from you.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and a Criminal Records Bureau Enhanced Disclosure will be undertaken on the successful person before an appointment is confirmed.
