A unique opportunity has arisen within the corporate ICT department for a Senior Business Systems Technician (Support). Working within the Business Systems team this role will provide software support and maintenance activities for a diverse range of bespoke and packaged applications used within the council.

With your proven software support skills, you will be working alongside other forward thinking ICT professionals in the team to provide multi-line support services, and ICT project related activities.

You will possess expert knowledge of software systems administration and a good understanding of software maintenance lifecycles
Demonstrable experience in supporting software systems of small to large complexity and scale in a commercial environment
Experience of supervising a software support team, planning and organising day to day support operations and have excellent customer service skills

Leaving networking, desktop and hardware configuration to other ICT teams, you will be working daily with large-scale systems including Finance, HR/Payroll, Social Care, Children’s and Adult’s, Housing and many other critical systems.

Upgrading, patching and configuring enterprise level software (mainly client/server) and dealing with software suppliers at all levels will be key skills that you are able to demonstrate.

Overall, you will be a highly motivated, self-starting individual with a sound understanding of the practices involved in software support, and the full software development lifecycle, with an ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
