We are looking for a professionally qualified planner with previous development control experience to assist on a temporary basis in our busy and friendly development services office. The post-holder will deal with a mixed caseload, including major planning applications, appeals, pre-application enquiries and the negotiation of development contributions in a professional and timely manner that supports the Council’s regeneration objectives.
Situated between Portsmouth and Chichester, Havant Borough is a diverse urban and coastal District with 48 kilometres of coastline (including Hayling Island), fourteen conservation areas, and a Major Development Area (MDA) of 3,000 houses involving joint working arrangements with Winchester City Council and Hampshire County Council. The Council is committed to community engagement at an early stage of the planning process and all planners within the team are expected to attend meetings of the local community boards, residents’ panels and other community groups to help raise public awareness of development proposals in their locality.
The post is based at Havant Civic Centre and flexible working hours apply. Some remote working arrangements can be made but the post-holder will be required to work at the office for a significant part of the week.
