The Teenage Pregnancy Strategy for Kent has been undergoing a substantial review which has resulted in a refreshed strategic direction, a clear action plan and strengthened governance. The lead post is located to report to the Kent Children’s Trust under the leadership of KCC to enable the Teenage Pregnancy Strategy to become embedded in the work of the Children’s Trust and its partner agencies.

This Senior Commissioning post will focus on strategies and plans to prevent teenage conceptions, support young parents and make connections with the wider determinants of the health, wellbeing and aspirations of children and young people.

The successful candidate will have experience of working to support the delivery of the Children and Young People’s Plan, and be able to demonstrate active commitment to the fields of prevention and early intervention with a particular interest in raising the aspirations and life skills of children and young people.

The postholder will have a working knowledge of related strategies and plans, including the parenting strategy, PCT world class commissioning plans and sexual health strategies.

This is a post requiring sophisticated communication skills and high levels of awareness of the sensitivities around this agenda. The successful candidate will have a track record in commissioning and de-commissioning services and activities, and will have engaged service users in their commissioning processes.

The postholder will be required to travel across Kent and will be expected to work in different bases.
