This is an ideal opportunity to work with individuals who have both learning disabilities and continuing mental health problems.
No two days will be the same, as you deal with a complex caseload of individuals with dual diagnosis. You’ll work to improve services to this marginalised group, and help them access mainstream services. This will involve multi-agency working, collaborating with health, housing and other providers, and you’ll be part of the management structure in the team, devising smarter ways of working.
A practicing ASW or social worker, you’ll be DipSW or CQSW trained, a skilled practitioner with a passion for your work. You’ll be flexible, able to prioritise, and enjoy working in a busy, friendly team. A skilled supervisor of staff such as care managers and community support workers, you should enjoy helping staff develop, and be willing to develop practice and standards through this. With a good knowledge of learning disability and mental health issues, you’ll be able to work within the legislative framework, and be creative in helping users and carers develop support packages.
An enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure and POVA check will be required for this role.
For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Ailsa Flinders or Elaine Austin on 01372 202 141.
Interview date: 16 December 2008.
