This post is open to job share.
A great opportunity for a strong internal auditor to join a progressive Internal Audit Service for one of the largest Borough Council’s in the country.
As an existing Auditor you’ll already appreciate that working in Internal Audit is varied, challenging and rewarding. You will be working in a small team giving you excellent exposure to senior members of the organisation and access to every business unit. Communication skills are a key component as are analytical and relationship building.
The post holder will be responsible for managing and undertaking a range of audit reviews, using a risk based approach, including financial and non-financial reviews across a wide range of areas, in accordance with professional standards and best practice. We are therefore looking for an experienced and enthusiastic auditor, looking to pursue or develop their auditing, organisation and communication skills. The position will be reporting to the Audit Manager.
Key responsibilities include the planning, overseeing and execution of the audit from cradle to grave (all aspects of audit fieldwork) and the monitoring of time and budgets on those assignments. Leadership skills will be necessary when delegating work, providing coaching and on the job training to the Trainee Auditor..
Ideally you should be fully or part qualified CCAB or IIA with relevant audit experience (preferably Local Government). You will need to demonstrate enthusiasm linked to personal drive and commitment and a desire to be part of a professional and customer focused team.
The Council is committed to ensuring that its policies and procedures are consistent with Essex Safeguarding Children Board guidance. This will help to minimise the risks to vulnerable groups, including children, and to ensure that the Council safeguards the health and well-being of its Service Users.
If you are successful, please be advised that you will need to undergo a pre-employment vetting procedure.
