The London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham has always been regarded as a high performing local authority, with excellent/four-star ratings in the annual Comprehensive Performance Assessment in recent years For the past three years, we have attracted considerable attention for being able to maintain this impressive record whilst cutting Council Tax by three percent in each of the last three budgets.

Indeed, the most recent (2008) rating judged that the authority had actually improved, moving from four-star ‘improving well’ to four-star ‘improving strongly.’

You will be responsible for the monthly capital and revenue monitoring, budget setting, closedown and other operational financial issues within the Waste and Street Scene Division. You will also be involved in a number of exciting financial reviews, particularly in relation to Waste Management, Street Trading and Fleet Management.

You will be responsibly for managing two staff within the Waste and Street Scene Finance team. Reporting to the Head of Finance you will also be expected to deputise where necessary.

You will be a CCAB qualified accountant with strong technical management accounting skills. Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills will be essential, because this role involves a considerable degree of interaction with senior staff and key stakeholder groups including our key partners and contractors.

While a local authority background would be advantageous, it is not essential provided candidates can demonstrate a good understanding of local government.
