Applications are invited for a new post within the Citysafe Strategy Unit.

Liverpool City Council is a statutory partner in the Citysafe, Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnership which is working to reduce crime and disorder and increase community safety in Liverpool.
The Secure by Design Technical Support Officer will assist the Citysafe Strategy Unit with the development of accredited `Secure by Design’ technical solutions to local crime and disorder issues, delivery plans for specific crime issues including plans for reducing acquisitive crime, participate in the formulation of Standards to ensure technical crime reduction measures comply with government standards, undertake site surveys, and prepare reports in relation to the Council’s Gating Programmes and ensure programme / policy compliance, provide quality assurance, cost effectiveness and measure community satisfaction.
An important aspect of the postholders’ work will be to ensure effective implementation of the City Council’s statutory duties – particularly Section 17 of the Crime & Disorder Act 1998.
The successful candidate will be educated and be experienced in a relevant discipline such as engineering, architecture or housing. S/he will have experience supporting successful multi-agency working and programme management including monitoring relevant multi-agency projects and initiatives. They will have a working knowledge and understanding of issues relating to crime reduction and community safety and will be experienced in inter-agency working and liaison with a wide range of representatives including Elected Members and voluntary & community representatives. They will be committed to promoting equal opportunities and the City Council’s Equality Scheme.
The posts are politically restricted post under the terms of the 1989 Local Government and Housing Act. This dictates that the post holders must seek the Council’s permission before taking up any additional appointments or positions. Police Checks and Clearance are also necessary in respect of this post.
This is a fixed term post to 31st March 2011.
