The above vacancy now exists within the Customer Service and Performance Department. The post will provide support to the Scrutiny Committee and also assist the Head of Customer Service and Performance in ensuring the Council operates an effective and successful performance management framework. The postholder will be responsible for managing a small team. The postholder must have experience of working with senior officers and/or elected members in a political environment. Experience of research, assimilation, analysis and presentation of a wide range of information and data is also essential as is proven practical experience of working in either a performance, policy or scrutiny function within a local government setting. The postholder will also be responsible for developing and implementing corporate policy emerging from review work. The post requires determination, good powers of persuasion, together with enthusiasm and self-motivation. A thorough understanding of the statutory background and constitutional issues in relation to scrutiny is required. IT literacy including proficiency in using the Internet and excellent word processing skills are essential as is own transport/current full driving licence although alternative arrangements may be agreed with applicants with a relevant disability.
