This is an exciting opportunity for managers or scrutiny officers who want the challenge of working with elected members on scrutiny projects which will make a difference to East Sussex residents.
The role of the post will be to manage the Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee and the Community Services Scrutiny Committee along with their associated scrutiny reviews. The post sits within a small, supportive team which supports the County Council’s six scrutiny committees.
The Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee undertakes external scrutiny of health and health issues across the county. The remit of Community Services scrutiny includes the new scrutiny of crime and disorder powers.
The County Council’s scrutiny work is regarded as best practice and therefore this post offers a significant development opportunity for the person appointed.
Applicants should have a good understanding of local authorities, together with some knowledge of health service structures and issues, and the requirements of managing local authority scrutiny projects. Applicants should have project management experience, strong analytical skills, political sensitivity and experience of innovation and management of change.
