Effective delivery of regeneration is key to the development of Kent’s economy, and in these troubled economic times, nowhere is this more important than in Kent’s rural areas. Kent is a rural county, with almost a third of Kent’s population, and almost 40% of Kent’s businesses rurally located, experiencing the same opportunities and issues as their urban equivalent, alongside some that are unique to the rural areas of Kent.

Recognising the need for a dedicated specialist to lead on this agenda, Kent County Council Regeneration and Economy division are looking for an experienced Rural Regeneration Manager to lead on this work. The individual will work through established partnerships to lead the development and implementation of rural strategy and policy, and the research, development, and delivery of specific projects in this area. The manager will provide a focus for rural expertise within the county and represent it on local, regional, and national forums, maintain an up-to-date understanding of the rural agenda, and manage the established rural regeneration team. The post-holder also will be expected to contribute to the management and development of the wider Regeneration and Economy Division.

Applicants will need to demonstrate:

• an excellent understanding of Kent’s rural picture,
• considerable understanding of national and regional rural policy
• first-rate experience and understanding of partnership working across a range of professional boundaries; and
• Substantial project and people management experience.
