This is a temporary contract for the specified period to be agreed, with the view of making it a permanent contract upon the successful completion of the full ACII qualification.
Redbridge’s Risk & Insurance Team works with all Service Areas across the Council at both Strategic and Operational levels in relation to Risk Management practices and Risk Registers. Insurance arrangements and risk management considerations are key to both Shared Services and Partnership working. We provide a comprehensive insurance underwriting, claims and advice service to all Service Areas. Joining us will give you the opportunity to participate in the continuous development of a professional team and in return you will receive professional training, a supportive management and access to quality learning, development and research materials.
We wish to recruit a Risk and Insurance Officer who will train to become a fully qualified CII member. You will ideally already have experience working in an insurance environment from either an insurance company or public sector background. You may already be CII part qualified.
The Risk and Insurance Officer will be part of a small team reporting to the Risk & Insurance Manager and will be responsible for undertaking claims investigations, arriving at liability decisions; and understanding the various classes of business applicable to a large local authority. You will learn to interpret policy wordings and their implementation. You will need to assist with financial closedown process, insurance renewal, tender process, compilation of management information reporting, assisting with conducting Risk & Insurance training seminars and workshops.
You will have significant negotiation and influencing skills in order to gain full engagement from all internal and external stakeholders. With experience of working effectively in a professional environment, you will ideally be able to demonstrate working knowledge of insurance procedures.
