35, Newsome Avenue is one part of the overall service provision for children and families in need within Barnsley. The purpose of the home, which has adapted facilities and disabled access, is to provide short break services to children and young people who have learning disabilities, complex health needs, autism, ADHD and associated behaviours.

The home works in conjunction with other short break service providers and professional agencies to meet the assessed needs of children and young people.

We are looking to recruit two, enthusiastic, motivated and flexible part time Residential Support Workers. The successful applicants will hold NVQ 3 – Children and Young People or work towards completing the new Diploma level 3 for the Children and Young Peoples workforce. They will have experience of working with vulnerable children or adults and have an understanding of the development needs of children and young people.

The successful applicants will work on a rota basis including shifts and weekends. They will work as part of a staff team and have a commitment to maintaining and developing a quality service.

Rota is based on the following and will be flexible (or changed) to meet the needs of the children. For example, less hours one week and more the next:

Week One: Monday 7am – 10am, Saturday 2pm – 9.30pm, Sunday 7am – 2.30pm

Week Two: Tuesday 3.30pm – 9pm, Wednesday 7am -10am, Thursday 3.30pm – 9pm, Friday 7am – 10am

Week Three: Friday 3.30pm – 9pm, Saturday 7am – 2.30pm, Sunday 2pm – 9pm

Shift work including nights, weekends and Bank Holidays.
