Hull City Council and the University of Hull are seeking to appoint a graduate with an excellent understanding of research methods to carry out a challenging Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project. The Research Associate will develop and implement an evaluation tool which measures the restorativeness of a practice or service. It is envisaged that this pioneering tool will subsequently be used in the evaluation of restorative practices by other agencies worldwide.
This post provides an excellent opportunity to be at the forefront of the Council’s groundbreaking efforts to adopt restorative practices as a way of improving services and community well-being city wide. The associate will assist the University and Council in their efforts to develop links which will enable transfer of expertise between them. The Research Associate will be part of, and be supported by, a project team which includes internationally recognised experts on restorative justice, practitioners who have pioneered the development of restorative practices in civil society, and a former KTP associate.
The person we are seeking for this post: We are seeking a graduate with a minimum 2.i honours degree in social sciences or another relevant subject, preferably with experience of utilising social science research methods and the ability to use computers and technology effectively. You must be able to work effectively as a member of a project team. An ability to engage with individuals from a range of backgrounds is essential as during the selection process and throughout the role you will be expected both to deliver presentations and interact with academics, practitioners and service users (including children and young people). You must be a very quick learner who is motivated by, and able to carry out successfully, very challenging tasks. You will need to demonstrate a clear commitment to professional and academic development and have a strong sense of personal responsibility.
This KTP is part of a national Government supported initiative sponsoring partnerships between business and universities which enable graduates to work on challenging, high profile projects (www.ktponline.org.uk) with support from university experts.
Employed by the University of Hull for a two year fixed term, the remuneration package for this role includes a salary of £20,500 pa (subject to qualifications and experience), plus a £4,000 personal development budget and the opportunity to undertake both a post-graduate qualification and CMI Management Diploma free of charge. A final salary pension scheme is also available.
You should be able to commence the post on 1 November 2010 or soon afterwards.
