Reigate and Banstead is the only designated New Growth Point in Surrey and has been awarded government funding to underpin its future development. We’ve also been shortlisted for the LGC 2009 Regeneration Award.

The Borough combines a high quality environment with economic vibrancy. Much of the borough is green belt, but our location close to London, Gatwick and the M25 and M23 motorways puts us at the heart of the south east’s economy. We have ambitious plans to regenerate Redhill town centre, and are about to enter into a masterplanning exercise for the town to help it realise its potential. We are accommodating housing growth in a planned and sustainable way in two new neighbourhoods, which will see Horley’s population grow by almost a third. We are also investing in the less prosperous residential areas of the borough.

We are seeking an experienced programme manager for a fixed-term contract ending 31st March 2011 to build on our excellent track record of successful delivery with partners. This is a unique role within the Council, and within Surrey. We are seeking someone with a strong track record of delivery in physical regeneration who is able to build on the partnerships we have established and take them to the next level. We are reviewing the role of our Local Strategic Partnership and you will work on a multiagency basis to manage the overall programme for regeneration.

You will lead a small team of specialists and project managers and will also work closely with the Council’s asset managers and policy planners. You will be expected to work with partners inside and outside the Council to bring our vision to reality. You will be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of dependencies between regeneration transport, social infrastructure, property ownership, commercial viability, streetscape, funding and planning policy.
