Location This position is located in the Letchworth Garden City in North Hertfordshire. North Hertfordshire is located less than 40 miles from central London, is a predominantly rural district and contains interesting market towns and several picturesque villages. The District is an attractive area in which to live and work.

This is a new temporary post created to assist the Transport Policy Officer with a demanding and exciting work programme in the delivery of transport projects associated with Growth Area Funding (GAF).

The successful candidate will be involved with and will also be required to identify, assess and provide technical advice on transport matters such as:

  • parking related issues associated with development,
  • transport implications of land allocations as part of the Local Development Framework,
  • preparing a Parking Supplementary Planning Document
  • projects arising out of various urban transport plans,
  • projects arising out of the Council’s Parking Strategy,
  • implementing the cycle network strategy for the Council, and
  • other growth related Green Infrastructure Projects.

The successful applicant will have:

  • knowledge and/or experience of Local Transport Plan preparation and implementation,
  • Awareness of current transport policy and planning techniques,
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of legislation relating to car parking functions would be desirable.
