This post is open to professionally qualified Trading Standards Officer/ Consumer Services Officers and is offered on a fixed term contract for two years. The London Borough of Tower Hamlets has a service a level agreement with Tower Hamlets Primary Care Trust to deliver a smoking cessation strategy, which includes targets to restrict the supply of illicit tobacco, including targeting rogue traders who sell tobacco to under-age children.
The post-holder will be expected to meet the targets set by the Primary Care Trust for Trading Standards. In addition, the post-holder will expected to build relationships with the PCT, Department of Health, HMRC, Police, and Environmental Health.
Trading Standards is a major partner in the Borough’s crime and disorder strategy, and has had a number of notable successes with its partners, including reducing fireworks disorder in the Tower Hamlets.
The Section has a track record in conducting successful investigations, and receives considerable support from the Authority’s Legal Services in prosecuting offenders.
The post is an enforcement post.
