Temporary post to cover maternity leave

Burnley has a rich industrial heritage that will underpin the significant regeneration opportunities in the borough. It has been awarded Heritage Lottery Funding for a £4 million Townscape Heritage Initiative for the Weavers’ Triangle, a Conservation Area recognised as being the most important example of Victorian industrial development in the North West.

As a result of maternity leave, we are looking for a versatile and enthusiastic individual to assist in the regeneration and enhancement of the Borough’s built heritage and to advise on design in the Borough’s Conservation and other heritage areas.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and self-motivated person with a degree in Planning or Architecture and experience of providing conservation and design advice to join a well – established team committed to safeguarding and enhancing the heritage of the borough and raising the standard of design in new development. As part of a team of professionals, you will provide specialist advice on complex and high profile planning and listed building applications and major regeneration schemes. You must be a good communicator, able to work in partnerships, lead teams and manage projects. The ability to work under pressure to agreed targets, as well as the confidence to deal with the public, developers, agents and architects on high profile cases is essential.

This is a temporary post that is available for the period up to the end of March 2010.
