The post holder will have the opportunity to make a real difference to key aspects of corporate financial management and reporting. You will be responsible for making transformational changes to the way the Council accounts for fixed assets, embedding the use of our recent implementation of Oracle Fixed Assets and ensuring that the Council meets all IFRS deadlines in relation to accounting for and reporting fixed assets within our Statement of Accounts. In addition you will play a key role in ensuring that efficiency targets are consistently and accurately identified and reported.
You will be a member of the Corporate Finance Team which undertakes a central co-ordinating and controlling role within Finance at the Council. This includes the review, collation and presentation of financial information to members and senior management over the full financial cycle (planning, budgeting, monthly and annual reporting), covering both revenue and capital.
The successful candidate will be CCAB qualified (or studying for a CCAB qualification), with proven technical and communications skills. You will be able to analyse complex issues, offer sound, reliable and professional advice, and communicate clearly to financial and non-financial specialists. Fully competent in desktop applications, with experience of using a sophisticated financial systems package, you will be able to show an innovative approach to the exploitation of IT to deliver improved outcomes.
