Fixed term 6 month contract

They are looking for a professional, competent and enthusiastic person who is able to communicate well at all levels. The Senior Planning Officer will undertake development management duties, including processing applications, appeals, enforcement and advice, in accordance with Town and County Planning legislation.

RESPONSIBILITIES: a) Undertake technical work on planning applications including site visits, negotiating with applicants, agents, objectors, developers etc, formulating recommendations, and presenting applications to the Planning Committee.
b) Provide technical pre-application advice to members of the public, developers and agents. Also provide technical advice on planning enforcement matters.
c) Advise members of the public, councillors, developers and agents on planning issues by letter, email, telephone or in person.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE: a) Degree or diploma in Town Planning or related discipline.
b) You must be a student or full member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
c) A good knowledge of Planning legislation and application processing.
d) Good written and oral communication skills.
e) Ability and willingness to take individual responsibility for own work and set priorities to meet agreed standards.
f) IT experience in a Windows environment, with good keyboard skills.
g) Experience of working within a customer focused environment dealing directly with the public.
h) Experience of performance management practices and system.
i) Full driving license
