Redbridge is a leading planning authority. It was the first London Borough to adopt a sound Core Strategy and now has six adopted Development Plan Documents in place. This success is recognised by the Department of Communities and Local Government in awarding the authority one of the largest allocations of Housing and Planning Delivery Grant in England. Work is now in progress on a number of new Development Plan Documents as well as a Community Infrastructure Plan and Housing Delivery Action Plan. As part of this, the Planning & Regeneration service area is at the forefront in delivering the Council’s vision for the Borough and within a learning culture, which is committed to developing enthusiastic and driven professionals.

To build on previous planning policy and development management successes as well as ensure that a high quality environment is maintained and enhanced, the Planning and Regeneration Service is now recruiting a Planning Obligations Officer:

You will have an advanced knowledge of the scope and operation of Planning Obligation processes together with an awareness of the economics and viability of site development. This will be used to drive negotiations with developers, collate information and monitor all planning obligations secured by the Council. Expertise, advice and support will be provided to Development Control Officers involved in Section 106 negotiations. You will co-ordinate corporate and individual service area responses to development proposals and assist in identifying service area needs and the preparation of a Community Infrastructure Plan. You will also pursue unpaid or unspent Section 106 funds and help ensure that the funds are spent in accordance with the terms of the Agreement and Committee authorisation.

If you would like more information or would like to discuss any aspect of these posts, please contact Ian Rae, Acting Team Leader, Planning Policy by email at or telephone 020 8708 2072.

Interviews will be held on 3rd August 2009.

Redbridge is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. Such jobs will require a CRB Disclosure check and references may be taken up prior to interview.
