Our client is a forward thinking local authority, based in one of the most attractive areas of the country. They are looking for a professional, competent and enthusiastic person who is able to communicate well in a forward thinking authority.

ROLE:
Our client is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join their busy Planning service, initially within the Planning Policy Team. The successful candidate will carry out research and advise the public on future development plans for the district and a range of general planning enquiries.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Responding to enquiries and correspondence.
b) Researching topics including maintaining the list of village services and facilities and producing an annual update.
c) Scoping of parish plans.
d) Compiling elements of the annual monitoring report.
e) Researching topics and good practice to assist senior officers with topics in the plan.
f) Helping with consultations, recording and dealing with responses.
g) Preparing background papers for development documents.
h) Preparing sustainability appraisals.
i) Researching and drafting infrastructure plans.
j) Assisting at Planning Committee.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
a) 2 A’levels, or equivalent in a related discipline, or appropriate equivalent experience in the field of town planning.
b) A Degree or Diploma in Historic Conservation, Urban Deisgn, Planning or a related discipline, or appropriate equivalent experience in the field of Conservation and Design / town planning.
c) Good oral and accurate written communication skills.
d) Ability to interpret scale drawings and to be able to read Ordnance Survey maps.

You may have experience of the following: Planning Officer, Planning Administrator, Town Planning, Town Planner, etc.
