Planning Assistant (Maternity cover to October 2010)
Salary : £21,974 – £24,075 plus essential car allowance
Dorking, Surrey
37 hours per week
Mole Valley is a beautiful district in the Green Belt with a large number of conservation areas and listed buildings. It is under considerable pressure because of its location in relation to the M25, Gatwick, Heathrow and London. The Authority operates firm restraint policies in line with its adopted Local Plan. We currently have a need for maternity cover which will be initially for a period of six months until October 2010 with the possibility of this contract being extended for up to a year.
We are seeking a Planning Assistant who will manage a caseload of simpler applications, appeals and related work within a small team. You will be educated to A Level or equivalent standard. The willingness to learn and aptitude for new technology are essential and you will be well organised with an eye for detail. The ability to deal with the public and to achieve results through negotiation and discussion is paramount. Whilst no planning qualification or experience is necessary, they would be an advantage and you should be able to demonstrate a strong interest in planning issues supported by previous experience or studies in a related area.
The duties of this post require travel throughout the Mole Valley area for which an essential car user allowance will be paid.
