As part of our Big Lottery Funded Library Programme a Community Development Officer is required to work in our soon to be opened Community Centre and Library on Dumers Lane, Radcliffe.
You must have appropriate experience in a position involving work with the general public and a clear understanding of social inclusion and community engagement including the meeting the needs and developing the potential of community groups.
Experience of providing advice and information to groups and/or individuals and work with volunteers will be an advantage. You will be able to demonstrate that you can plan and implement appropriate consultation programmes to ensure the needs of the whole community are acknowledged. You will be a confident, lively communicator able to enthuse and involve people of all ages and abilities in this challenging programme.
Applicants must be computer literate (the interview includes an IT test).
Interview candidates will be expected to give a presentation at the interview focusing on the Dumers Lane area and its people; to help prepare for this informal visits to the communities in question with a chance to meet members of the community involved in the project can be arranged. Further details will be sent out to all applicants being given an interview. Other essential requirements are detailed in the person specification.
Hours of work are 22.5 hours per week, will be flexible and may involve some evening and weekend working.
The appointment is subject to a satisfactory enhanced CRB check.
