Parks Services Manager

Contract – 6-12 Month Maternity Cover- Full time

Salary – £37,851 – £40,506

Location: Town Hall Extension, Argyle Street, WC1H 8NP

Camden Council currently has a contract opportunity for a Parks Services Manager to join their Parks and Open Spaces team.

Role Purpose:

Ensuring a long term strategic overview and the delivery of a range of high profile and quality parks services that support park users.

Identifying best practice in parks management and developing local initiatives such as volunteering and community food growing, allotments, income generation, developing parks Friends’ groups.

Supervising the park ranger team.

About You:

You will be a high energy individual with drive and enthusiasm to continuously improve the park user experience and how we work with the community. You will have experience of working with community groups and organisations, delivering projects in partnership with external organisations and managing a team of staff and volunteers.

Role Requirements

  • An understanding of how to deter anti-social behaviour and work with our communities to deliver sustainable quality
  • Experience of driving improvement
  • Ability to take responsibility for quality of service and team leadership
  • Finely tuned analysis and judgement skills
  • Confidence and resilience to deal with unexpected situations
  • Experience of working with contacts where a high degree of discretion, sensitivity and advocacy is needed
  • Experience of managing staff and resources
  • Knowledge of park issues within an inner city
