We are committed to the protection of children and vulnerable adults.
This is a one year fixed term contract until April 2011.
You will provide school-based outreach support to parents from a secondary school and a small group of primary schools in Barnet’s Excellence Cluster.
This varied and exciting role will involve working in partnership with families, schools and other relevant practitioners to support parents, children and families, individually and in parenting groups, with the aim of promoting emotional well being, good behaviour and attendance leading to improved outcomes for children.
Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to develop supportive and trusting relationships with parents from across a range of backgrounds. You must be non-judgmental in your approach and have the ability to solve problems and handle difficult situations in a calm, fair and confidential manner.
Ideally you will have experience from within education, social services, health or the voluntary sector. Direct experience of parenting is essential as is an understanding of schools and their commitment to improving life chances for children. You will be required to prioritise your workload and operate on your own initiative.
Travelling between schools will be necessary, so you should have access to your own transport.
