Basildon is the largest Borough in the Eastern region with a population of more than 165,000. The Revenues and Benefits Service deals with 75,000 Council Tax Accounts, 4,500 Rate Accounts and has a Benefits caseload of above 18,500.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of a new management team for Revenues and Benefits at Basildon. Created as part of an organisational review, we have a vacancy for a Senior Management level post. You will be part of a three-person management team under the Revenues and Benefits Manager, responsible collectively for the performance of some 100 staff in the service as a whole.

We are seeking a highly talented and motivational Revenues professional to lead the Council Tax, Business Rates and Sundry Debt processing and recovery sections.

You must have relevant experience at a Senior level, with related financial management skills. Enthusiasm is key, as you will need to be ready to help the service meet the opportunities that lie ahead and to help us tackle the efficiency and Welfare Reform agendas head on. Our aim is to offer an effective, customer-focused service by means of motivated and empowered staff.

You will lead the Operational Revenues Division of some 25 staff, and ideally, you will be IRRV qualified or have relevant experience at a senior level, with comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, technical precedent and practical issues.
