In Lewisham we are passionate about working together to improve the lives and life-chances of our children and young people. Are you looking for a challenge? We are looking for a flexible experienced administrator who can start in mid May, in order to learn about and participate in the termly grants cycle before the current post holder goes on maternity leave.
This post, within Children & Young People’s Performance Service, has overall lead responsibility for the Nursery Grant scheme. This involves delivering nearly £1m in grants per term to 92 private, voluntary and independent providers, once each provider’s application is received, processed, validated and approved. However the post is much more than administering the process, it also has lead responsibility for reviewing and developing the processes and procedures in relation to the Nursery Grant scheme; advising providers, managing the annual statutory Early Years Census and addressing any data quality issues arising.
The successful candidate will have:
• the ability to take ownership of the termly Nursery Grants process and continue delivering it against a background of extensive change;
• relevant expertise, experience and drive to respond with proposals and solutions to the many national and local changes currently taking place in the Early Years funding arena;
• a high level of ICT competency including experience of using, managing and developing a large and complex database, ideally containing information about children or people;
• experience of setting up and maintaining Grant systems to pay providers
• a good understanding of the data quality issues involved in processing and validating data on three and four year old children;
• an understanding of the business context of this application and the likely challenges for the future.
This post is subject to an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Disclosure.
Lewisham Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment
