Job Title: Motor Vehicle Fitter/Mechanic

Applications are invited for the Post of Vehicle Mechanic.
Based in Thurrock, you will form part of the in-house Fleet & Logistics team responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of vehicles including waste collection, street sweeping vehicles, Minibuses Welfare Buses, plant, horticultural plant and general purpose vans and Lorries.
You will need to be a fully qualified HGV/LGV Vehicle Mechanic to NVQ Level 3 with extensive post qualification experience, working with minimal supervision. A full current LGV class “C” driving licence is also essential.
You should be able to demonstrate that you are experienced in servicing and repairing specialist vehicles, such as or similar to street sweeping and refuse vehicles with hydraulically powered bodies and bin lifts. You should be able to fault find on modern electrical systems, competent to use diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify faults. Specialist knowledge of hydraulics and electrics on Dennis Refuse vehicles would be an advantage.
The contracted hours of the posts will be 37 hours per week. However, the nature of the work may require early starts and occasional weekend work. Late finish shift pattern may also be required and catch up weekends. You will also be required to participate in supporting the winter gritting on a rota basis. Additional work or cover will be compensated for with agreed rates.
