As the Mobile and Library Link Reader Assistant and Driver you will be working in a customer driven environment, responsible for overseeing and driving mobile libraries and other library vehicles around allocated routes delivering library and information services to users of the Mobile library, housebound readers and those in residential homes.

A full clean driving licence including an LGV class C or former equivalent is an essential requirement.

You will have previous experience of working with the public in a community facility or environment and have a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.

Working in an operational environment with the public on a face to face basis you will need to have an awareness of the needs of disadvantaged groups and be motivated to work with children and young people and vulnerable adults and be able to assess situations with tact and diplomacy.

You will have good interpersonal and team working skills, good organisational skills and be able to deal with challenging behavior and situations. You must be able to prioritise your own work and work on your own initiative as required. You will have the ability and confidence to support customers with their information needs and with basic IT requirements. A knowledge and enthusiasm for books and reading is needed.

Your previous qualifications will include 4 GCSEs or appropriate equivalent, including English and numeracy. Excellent communication skills are essential, both written and verbal, including using IT systems and office software.
