12 months fixed term contract
The Council is entering into a 5-year Partnership arrangement for the delivery of its 5-year Council Housing Capital Improvement Programme commencing 1st April 2010. Assisting in the delivery of this programme, you will work as part of a team of three preparing specifications and documentation for the approved improvement programmes. You will also be required to ensure that works are properly supervised and completed satisfactorily. The post holder acts as the Co-ordinator (in accordance with the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2007) for all contracts managed.
You should preferably possess a HNC or equivalent qualification in a building related subject, have at least 3 years’ experience in building repair and maintenance and have a sound knowledge of current regulations and Health and Safety legislation relating to the construction industry. The ability to prepare plans, specifications and contract documentation is also essential. The duties of the post require that site supervision is undertaken; therefore you will require a current clean driving licence.
The post is for a period of 12 months whilst the impact of the new Partnership arrangements is assessed.
