Cherwell District Council is committed to being a district of opportunity and promoting a safe and healthy Cherwell. Central to these priorities is the work of the Licensing Team within the Vehicle Parks and Licensing Section.
The Licensing Team administer and enforce the licensing provisions relating to the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, Taxi and Private Hire Licensing, Charity Collection Permissions and Street Trading.
We require maternity cover for the Licensing Team Leader to manage the efficient and effective delivery of the Council’s statutory licensing functions in accordance with strategic aims and objectives.
You will be responsible for the issue of licenses, enforcement of relevant licensing legislation, and locally determined licensing and contractual conditions relating to premises (alcohol, entertainment etc.) vehicles (taxis and private hire), street trading, markets, gambling and enforcement.
You will have a wide ranging knowledge of service management in a regulatory role, budgetary control, performance management and experience of a political environment. You will be able to prioritise your own workload and those of the team.
You must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to deal with difficult situations. You will need a driving licence and access to a vehicle.
