We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our Licensing Service (part of the Environmental Health & Licensing Team), which is based in the Civic Centre in Esher. The post will provide cover for the existing post holder who is going on maternity leave. The Team’s work includes alcohol/ entertainment, gambling, charitable collections and hackney carriage / private hire vehicle licensing. We can promise a varied and interesting workload!

We are looking for a good communicator with excellent technical skills, capable of using their initiative and making, and taking responsibility for, their own decisions. You would be responsible principally for the alcohol/entertainment, charitable collections and gambling elements of the work although a part of the work will be providing cover to the other licensing officer who specialises in hackney carriage / private hire licensing. Good communication with all stakeholders is essential, as considerable mediation is sometimes needed. You should be familiar with, and experienced in, licensing work. Having the Cert in Higher Education in Licensing Law would be advantageous. Occasional night time inspection work will be required on a flexible basis.
