Swindon’s new £10 million, award winning, Central Library provides the focal point for the regeneration of the town centre. Contemporarily designed, this new facility provides access to lending and reference resources, computers and information services, whether for leisure or learning.

We are seeking a customer focussed dynamic and enthusiastic individual to manage, develop and market the Central Library, meeting the needs of its existing and potential customers and the citizens of Swindon. You will oversee the day-to-day operation of the library, managing the work flow and staff directly, ensuring that high standards of customer care are delivered at all times.

As well as 3 GCSEs grade C or above including English language and Maths, or equivalent or compensatory relevant experience, you will have experience of library work or experience of supervisory work in a context of working face-to-face with the enquiring public in a customer service environment. Ideally you will also have a general awareness of books and other materials and services available in libraries.

A good level of IT skills, including Microsoft packages is also essential along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will also be able to work under pressure and be adaptable to change.

A CRB disclosure will be required.
