If you enjoy meeting people as much as you enjoy reading and talking about books, then this is the perfect role for you.

As well as replacing stock on the shelves and keeping the library in good order, the position involves using the library computer system to control the circulation of library stock and give information.

Good computer skills in packages such as MS Office will be important, as well as competent use of the internet, along with excellent communication skills, stamina and a positive attitude towards training and personal development from induction onwards.

You will be working a 2 week rota pattern, as follows:

Week 1: Wednesday 8.30 – 3.30 Thurs 8.30 – 3.30, Fri 8.30 – 3.30
Week 2: As above

You may also be required to work very occasionally on a Saturday, to cover planned absence.

Literate, numerate and able to work under pressure, you must also be a good team player and, above all, committed to delivering high quality customer care. This post also needs someone who is enthusiastic about working with children and actively participating in regular events for them.

For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Brenda Kebbell or Pat Lucas on 0300 200 1001.

Interview date: 7 August 2009.

Surrey County Council particularly welcomes applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
