Insurance Officer x 2.2 Full Time Equivalent of 36 hours per week

We currently have opportunities within our Audit & Risk team, which is part of our Finance & Procurement Section, providing strategic professional support to the Council, which is key to achieving our objectives and ensuring optimum service delivery. The role gives opportunity for full and/or part time flexible working patterns although the hours will have regard to the business need.

In this role you will work as part of the Insurance team you will support the Insurance & Risk Manager in all elements of the role in actively contributing to the achievement of the team’s aims and objectives and you will undertake;

• to support the Insurance & Risk Manager in the delivery of an effective insurance service, working efficiently and effectively in the administration of insurance policies and claims.
• handle and administer claims within a wide & varied portfolio on behalf of the council within delegated authority limits, developing and maintaining links with council departments and other agencies to ensure compliance with legal protocols and timetables.
• highlight claims trends and be vigilant for indicators of fraud.
• provide appropriate advice and guidance to other Council services and relevant external bodies.

For this role we are seeking an individual with working experience within an insurance/claims environment and an understanding of local government and the specific insurance needs would be an advantage.

The ability to communicate, negotiate and influence at all levels is therefore essential to this post.
