The Housing Options Service delivers a wide range of services to some of the most vulnerable members of our society.
Our primary aim is to reduce social exclusion wherever possible through the provision of targeted specialist services, which give people tools and opportunities to improve their lives and life chances, and start to move forward in their lives.
We were appointed Regional Champions by the Communities & Local Government (CLG) in 2006 for our success in homeless prevention and are one of an elite group of 12 councils chosen to be Enhanced Housing Options Trailblazers.
In 2009 we were appointed to be one of 15 Ending Rough Sleeping Champions to promote and share best practice in preventing and tackling rough sleeping.
The Visiting Officer is responsible for providing an effective visiting service to help reduce the number of households presenting as homeless as well as to promote and facilitate access to the authorities Housing Options Service for the benefit of the authority and applicants.

This is a very busy and demanding role, therefore the ability to balance competing priorities and to take decisions with minimum reference to others is essential.
