The Housing Options Team offers advice and assistance to people in housing need. The service includes working to prevent homelessness, assisting with Devon Home Choice applications and determining homeless decisions.

The Housing Options Officers will interview clients in housing need or who are threatened with homelessness. They will offer advice regarding legal status, negotiate with accommodation providers, consider financial resources and outline the housing options that are available. The role involves problem solving and daily contact with members of the public, landlords and other accommodation providers.

The successful applicant will need to be resilient and able to cope with pressure, dealing with customers who may be under stress, and vulnerable groups. Knowledge of homelessness and housing issues is essential.

There are no interview expenses offered for this post.

The closing date for receipt of completed applications is 12:00noon Monday 13th February 2012. Interviews are scheduled to take place on Friday 24th February 2012 and applicants are recommended to ensure their availability on that day.
