Location Sherwood Lodge, Bolsover

The above vacancy now exists within the Housing Department based at Sherwood Lodge, Bolsover. The successful postholder will provide an efficient and effect housing needs service to tenants and customers within the district, this includes the allocation of properties in accordance with policy, the delivery of an effective homeless and housing advice service within a geographical patch and the delivery of a sheltered housing service to vulnerable people. The management of employees within the sheltered housing service is also a pre requisite. To be shortlisted for interview candidates * must * possess:-

  • A good standard of literacy and numeracy through either qualification or experience, i.e. GCSE Mathematics and English (Grade C or equivalent).
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of housing and homeless legislation and regulations including the Code of Guidance on Homelessness.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of supporting people programme.
  • Computer literacy including experience of using Microsoft Office products and housing management systems.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of supported housing with specific reference to sheltered housing.
  • Proven sound knowledge of current housing initiatives and good practice.
  • Proven practical experience of dealing with members of the public in a housing related service.
  • Proven practical experience of dealing with difficult situations.
  • Proven practical experience of working for a Local Authority, Housing Association or similar organisation.
  • Proven practical experience of applying statutory or corporate policies and procedures.
  • Proven practical experience of management of employees.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to a variety of groups to include tenants and Elected Members.
  • Proven ability to work both within a team environment and on own initiative to competing deadlines, displaying good organisational skills, tact and discretion at all times.
  • A demonstrable commitment to service improvement.
  • Ability to be flexible in working times including out of hours.
  • Full driving licence/own transport although alternative arrangements may be agreed with applicants with a relevant disability.
