This is a temporary post for 2 years initially but may be extended. Taking a multi agency approach the post holder will work closely with partner agencies in the identification of homelessness or the potential for homelessness at the earliest possible moment. Working to the homelessness prevention agenda every effort will be made to prevent homelessness arising, where this is possible and it is reasonable to do so. This will include informal mediation with family members and/or friends, and liaison with private sector landlords and mortgage / loan companies to prevent homelessness arising in the first instance. Where prevention is not possible the post holder will provide advice and assistance to clients in securing alternative accommodation and working with partner agencies, where these are involved, any support needs will be identified and appropriate referrals made to support providers. Where clients are not involved with Barnsley Credit Union, advice and information on the credit union will be provided and referrals made as appropriate. The post holder will maintain case files for clients and use this information to identify gaps in homelessness prevention services and work with the PO Housing Advice, Options & Homelessness Prevention (HOA&HP) to prioritise these to enable the PO HOA&HP to inform the Homeless Prevention Strategic Partners Group in the implementation of the Homelessness Strategy and its update. Please note for this position you will be required to undergo an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check.
