The main purpose of the job is to deliver a generic housing advice, homelessness prevention and housing options service to vulnerable households within the borough.
Your main responsibilities will include :
1. Providing housing and welfare / benefits advice and advocacy in order to prevent homelessness.
2. Assisting vulnerable people to achieve suitable and sustainable housing outcomes through analysing housing and support needs and options and pursuing creative homelessness prevention options.
3. Undertaking assessments of homelessness duties under Part VII of the 1996 Housing Act and recommending decision to your Manager.
4. Arranging temporary and / or settled accommodation for priority potentially homeless households.
5. Liaising with the housing needs and benefits teams and the supported housing coordinator to ensure the seamless delivery of a comprehensive homeless prevention, advice and housing / support needs assessment service.
6. Developing key mentor/champion expertise and knowledge for specific areas of housing advice.
There is a potential for involvement in homeless out of hours service.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and subject to an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure check.
