The Council is currently facing some significant challenges and has had to review its priorities and structures for delivery. With any challenge, there is opportunity and this is an exciting time to be a part of the Information, Advice, Learning and Skills Service. You will have experience of working within the education and training sector as well as a significant knowledge of current and emerging local and national issues in skills, learning and employment, in particular in relation to offender learning. In addition, you will have an understanding of the legislative and policy frameworks that apply to the service area. You must have the interpersonal abilities to work effectively within a matrix management culture and to build positive working relationships with internal and external partners. Key duties include;- to support the Service Manager to influence and shape the educational provision on offer for young offenders in Hindley YOI on behalf of the UK to support the Service Manager to ensure the curriculum delivered in Hindley YOI is comparable with the education young people can expect to receive it they were attending mainstream education work in partnership with the Hindley YOI and the OLASS Provider to take steps to ensure that a young person fulfils their learning potential work in partnership with Home authorities to support them in the implementation of their duties within the Apprenticeships, Skills and Children’s Learning Act (ASCL Act). Working with the appropriate regional support functions and internal teams, you will provide effective LA leadership in shaping and influencing coherent and responsive high-quality post-16 education and training provision. You must have a proven track record in translating government policy and strategies into effective work plans which can be resourced, reviewed and monitored.
