The Housing Options Service (HOS) forms the centrepiece of the City Council’s commitment to prevent homelessness wherever possible and re-house people who do become homeless as soon as possible. HOS staff all work as one team. Whilst specialising in one of three particular areas of prevention, assessment or re-housing you will work across any of the teams when necessary.
As an Assessment Officer your specialist tasks will include;
• Investigating homelessness applications in an appropriate manner
• Carrying out face to face interviews
• Liaising with other voluntary and statutory agencies in gathering information in connection with assessments
• Working with the prevention and re-housing teams
You will need to have had experience in homelessness prevention and assessment or housing advice work, and good communication and IT skills.
