A vacancy has arisen for an experienced health and safety professional; you will be part of a team of Health and Safety Advisors in the further development and implementation of the overall health and safety framework across the council.

You will assist in the development of the management led culture and approach to health and safety while providing guidance and support to management at all levels; advising in the development of policy, assessing training needs, development of specialist skills and promoting best practice.

As a large Local Authority our workforce engage in a wide variety of activities, in different situations, presenting a broad spectrum of risks thus offering the selected candidate variety, flexibility and good scope for professional development.

To take advantage of this opportunity, you must be a Graduate member of IOSH and hold a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification, and worked in a health and safety environment for a minimum of two years.

The role needs you to be participative and able to contribute effectively to the team. You’ll be able to articulate your arguments coherently, write meaningful reports, conduct research and present your evidence effectively.

You will need to be able to advise and guide managers in many aspects of health and safety so your presentation skills must be clearly evidenced and as safety is all about persuasion, your interpersonal skills will enable you to interact productively with all council employees.
