As a highly accomplished and experienced professional used to working in a large organisation, you will have the qualities to lead our Waste Service as we progress our major, innovative PFI initiative to meet the challenge of further reducing the amount of waste going to landfill. Heading up a 23-strong team, you will provide influential leadership and direction to the Waste Service, ensuring service standards, objectives and targets are met. Your role will include providing strategic management for the Beacon Award winning RECAP partnership of our five district councils and neighbouring unitary council, as well as representing and promoting the Waste Service at local, regional and national forums. With a strongly innovative approach to problem solving, you will be able to act with a high degree of autonomy and you will actively promote a culture of collaborative and consultative working between services, members and external partners. Qualified in Waste Management/Environment or a related discipline with chartered membership of a relevant profession, you will have significant experience of leading and managing teams and a proven track record of delivering change. Your expertise in contract specification, management and negotiation will be supported by your knowledge of relevant legislation and industry practice.
