HEAD OF PLANNING & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Employer Newark & Sherwood District Council Location We have several sites throughout the district e.g. Kelham Hall - HQ, Leisure Centres at Southwell, Balderton, Ollerton, Blidworth, Tourist Info Centres @ Newark and Ollerton, Museum, Castle and Theatre in Newark, Cashier’s office – Town Hall in Newark, Waste and Transport Depot and Lorry Park in Newark together with several parks and open spaces throughout Newark and District.

This is a key senior role in the development of the Newark and Sherwood District growth point.

Your role

You will be responsible for heading our planning control and maximising the potential for the growth and regeneration of our communities.

It’s a crucial time to join us – you will be tasked with driving change, inspiring the team, streamlining processes and shaping new services.

As a member of the Corporate Management Team, you will also have a wider role in delivering wider strategic plans.

The requirements

You need to bring us:

• Proven experience in a development role in either a public or private context

• The ambition and desire to drive change and steer the growth of our district

• An understanding of local authority structures, efficiencies and processes

• Strong leadership skills and the ability to provide a vision and implement strategy

• Ideally, membership of a relevant professional body in the world of planning and economic development.
