Are you someone who has drive, is committed to achieving a quality service and is prepared to respect others and encourage staff to work together to achieve common goals?
We are looking for an experienced manager with a relevant professional background to head one of our four service divisions. The right candidate will be able to lead teams engaged in developing a spatial vision for the future of Uttlesford, development management, building control, strategic housing policy and enabling affordable housing development programmes, achieving economic development objectives in conjunction with Uttlesford Futures, our LSP, and energy management and climate change issues.
As Uttlesford is the location of Stansted Airport, you will have an understanding on the economic, social and environmental implications of the aviation industry. You will combine this with an appreciation of the issues faced by a community comprising market towns and villages, many with conservation areas (35 in total), and about 3,500 listed buildings, a highly productive arable farming area, and important historic landscape elements including Hatfield Forest, all with good access to Cambridge and London.
You will be able to contribute to the council’s corporate plan, budget planning and medium term financial strategy, be a good manager of performance, and be creative and proactive in developing improvements into the services managed, including outsourcing and partnership working where appropriate.
For an informal discussion about this post please contact Roger Harborough, Director of Development on 01799 510457.
Equal Opportunities
We positively welcome applicants from all sections of the community.
