Head of Parks & Green Spaces
Bristol City Council
Take the lead on making the most of natural beauty in Bristol. You’ll be responsible for an integrated service tasked with maintaining, developing and enhancing the city’s parks, green spaces and related services. In everything you do, you’ll put the interests of local communities first. We will rely on your leadership to maximise benefits to the people who live, work and visit the city.
Your remit as leader and manager will span wide-ranging services, with accountability for both strategic development and operational delivery. You will see that Parks & Green Spaces work strategically alongside wider place-making endeavours, at both citywide and neighbourhood level. It will take high quality landscaping, careful consideration of accessibility, and keenly won funding aligned to thorough investment plans. Championing a positive culture of collaboration and engagement, you’ll shape a conversation with the public to design the best possible sustainable Parks & Green spaces service for now and the future.
To be equal to the challenge, you’ll need demonstrable experience of working with communities to co-create great public services and spaces. We expect you to be qualified, either to graduate or full professional level, or by experience, in a discipline related to parks and green spaces or public sector service delivery. Knowledge and understanding of excellence in horticultural practice is vital, as is experience of managing asset based services. As a leader, you are innovative and inspiring, with a commitment to sound financial management, and to developing services that improve outcomes for citizens and customers.
