Highways, footways, verges, bridges, tunnels, culverts, trees and drainage. They all fall under your remit. So you can see why this is such a high profile role that affects everybody in the county. You’ll also be able to see something else. Like how best to shape the highways infrastructure whilst taking into account a range of factors, such as the fact that two-thirds of the county is a designated area of natural outstanding beauty. It’ll also be up to you lead and inspire your 100-strong team and really embed a progressive, forward-thinking culture across our newly restructured department.
To achieve that requires real vision which, as well as the confidence and credibility to influence high level decision-making, you’ll have plenty of. You’ll also be a proven strategist with a demonstrable track record in change management and delivering performance improvement. This will be matched with the ability to handle the demands created by an authority that provides services to over 500,000 people.
The salary for this post is £55,539 to £60,690 per annum (Local Managerial Grade 5).
