Head of Economic Development

We are looking for an ambitious, highly motivated individual to head our economic development team at one of the most exciting times for Waltham Forest and for London. You will take forward our ambitious agenda for the economic regeneration of the borough creating opportunities for local residents to ensure the legacy of London 2012 has a lasting impact for our communities. You will lead on initiatives to tackle worklessness as laid out by the Multi-Area Agreement amongst the 5 host boroughs.

You will ensure the delivery of our sustainable community strategy priorities for creating and retaining wealth in the borough, improving our residents’ well being and tackling worklessness. On top of that, you will head a team that will deliver a programme of economic development projects worth several millions, alongside the unique opportunity to provide a lasting change for some of the most deprived communities in London.

Extensive experience in managing economic development projects that support business development and regeneration programmes, policies and initiatives, is essential. You will have led bids for external funding and facilitated co-operation and partnership across internal and external organisations.

You will also have strong influencing, negotiating, interpersonal and networking skills as well as knowledge and experience of performance measurement and management. If you are a strategic manager able to turn strategy into delivery, then we want to hear form you.
